Apple iPad mini to allegedly launch in October

AllThingsD is reporting that Apple will announce the iPad mini in October, according to several of their sources.

The launch event will take place only a month after the iPhone event, which is supposed to take place on September 12, although Apple is yet to confirm that.

Initially, some postulated that the iPhone and the iPad mini events will take place simultaneously, although that seemed unlikely considering Apple has historically kept the two product events separate.

This latest news tells us that although Apple might not be willing to merge the iPad events with the iPhone's, they are also not going to wait till next year's main iPad event to release the smaller variant.

Next gen iPhone to allegedly go on pre-order on September 12

Last month we reported that the next generation iPhone is said to be unveiled on September 12. Now according to the latest information, once again courtesy iMore, the next iPhone will be available for pre-order on the very same day.

This is an interesting change because if you look at the previous iPhone launches, the phone went on sale several days after it was announced by Apple. The strategy of releasing the product on the same day as launch is synonymous with Apple's computers and not their mobile devices (except for the iPods).

iMore is also reporting that apart from going on sale on September 12 in the US, the new iPhone will hit international markets in the first week of October, around October 5.

Microsoft to allegedly launch subsidized $99 Xbox 360 with Kinect next week

The Verge has managed to get their hands on some rather exciting news for gamers in the US who cannot afford to pay the full price for an Xbox-Kinect bundle but would still want to get their hands on one.

According to their sources, Microsoft is set to launch a subsidized version of the Xbox-Kinect bundle only for $99 and it could be released as early as next week.

For the $99 that you pay, you will get the base Xbox 360 with 4GB of built-in memory (you can always purchase additional storage from Microsoft) and the Kinect sensor. You will be signing into a two year contract where you will have to pay $15 every month. During that period, you also get Xbox Live Gold membership as well as two year warranty. There will be an option to opt out early and pay the early termination fee.

Unfortunately, it is said that in the beginning the $99 Xbox will only be sold in the US that too only through Microsoft Stores. This will put it out of a lot of people’s reach. Hopefully, Microsoft will have an option to sell it online and in other markets.
